Best Thesis Award 2026

The FMS Thesis award is an award to highlight student and doctoral student theses within medical statistics at Swedish universities.
What can be nominated: An article from a doctoral thesis or licentiate thesis, a master thesis or a bachelor thesis that was published during 1 January 2025-30 June 2026. The focus of the thesis should be on statistical applications or the development of statistical methods in medicine. The thesis should have been undertaken at a Swedish university.
Who can be nominated: A student, licentiate student or doctoral student at a Swedish university. The nominated is not required to be a member of FMS.
Who can nominate: All FMS members* are welcome to nominate. The nomination can be made by self-nomination or by another person. The nominee must have been asked and have approved the nomination.
Assessment: Nominations are reviewed and prepared by an independent committee appointed by the FMS board. The winner is selected by the FMS board. The prize money is SEK 5,000, which is divided between the prize winners (if several).
Criteria
- Relevance for medical statistics or other related field
- Originality in research question and method
- Clarity in writing
- Leading role in the nominated work (motivated by ”authorship contribution statements” or position in author list).
